CO-AUTHORING A MASTER ASSOCIATION MISSION STATEMENT

A good mission statement is a short statement of the purpose of our association. Short enough to fit at the bottom of our letterhead or posted for a quick reminder on a plaque. It should answer the question, “What good, for whom?” It should be so memorable that it flows easily off the tongues of the board and members. Everyone committed to the HOA should know the mission statement by heart.

A good mission statement is a description of the ideals or reasons for the existence of the organization. It frequently defines the organization’s ethical tone, basic philosophy, and adherence to its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

    Examples:

“The Board of the Silver Springs Master Homeowners Association, as Trustees and stewards of this community, which was established for the benefit and legal standing of its General Members, will abide by high standards  application of personal and group performance, and ethical behavior.  Familiarity and administration of the Articles of Incorporation, Master Association Bylaws, and Agreements with Mountain Regional Water District will be followed for the benefit of ALL the Property Owners in our Silver Springs Community.”

“The Silver Springs Master Homeowners Association has been established to maintain the common area properties. The representative Board of Trustees will outline and follow a strategic plan; take stock of its delegated parcels; identify critical issues and focus on their resolution; consult with volunteers and professionals to implement a reasonable plan with accountability; be intimately familiar with the legal instruments governing the HOA; and keep the General Membership informed regarding its actions in order to obtain informed annual elections and votes.”
