    Primary Election – June 22, 2010. The Primary ballot will consist of races for US Senate (Republican), Utah House 53 (Republican) Utah House 25 (Democratic), North Summit School Board #4 (Non-partisan), and South Summit School Board #4 (Democratic).

    Primary elections are a political candidate nominating process. In accordance with Utah Law, political parties determine the rules for selecting their candidate and choose if their primary election is open or closed.

    Republican Party – Closed Primary
    ONLY registered voters that are affiliated with the Republican Party can vote a Republican ballot. Unaffiliated voters may affiliate with the Republican Party on Election Day by filling out a party affiliation form. A Voter MAY NOT switch parties and be allowed to vote a Republican Ballot. The last day to switch from one party to another is May 24th.

    Democratic Party – Open Primary
    Any registered voter may vote a Democratic Party ballot. There are no restrictions based on party affiliation. There is no requirement for a voter to affiliate with Democratic Party.

    Non-partisan Ballot
    In areas where there is local school board race on the ballot any registered voter is eligible to cast a vote.  If they vote a Republican or Democratic ballot these races will appear on their party ballot under a “Non-partisan” heading.
